This week I quit my direct sales business. The “why” isn’t important, but it was a personal decision fraught with a lot of mixed emotions.
I love working. I love making money. I ♥LOVE♥ spending money… but I love being home to raise my child even more than all of that. I realize how privileged I am to make that choice, I don’t take it for granted for a second. However, I tried to have my cake and eat it too when I joined a direct sales business 6 months ago.
I did have success. I made money, earned free products and built a fantastic team under me. I felt like I had another reason to harness my energy and be productive each day. It was great! That first commission check had me walking on cloud nine!
Unfortunately, I began to doubt the genuine mission of the company, and that cynicism lead to butting heads with the head office. I made the decision to leave this past weekend and its been bittersweet. BUT I still love the products and wish my team members well. There is definitely a fair amount of guilt associated with leaving them behind.
So starting today, I am on a new mission! I know SO MANY women out there hustling to support their family financially with a direct sales business. Some of them are stay at home moms, others are working moms who have aspirations of one day being able to stay home on their direct sales income. Others do it for fun, because it is such a social and rewarding way to make money. I want to build these women up, learn about their companies, and explore what is out there before I make the leap again.
